BIO
Oaklea is a Denver area soprano and studied vocal performance at University of Denver, Lamont School of Music. She has proved to be a versatile singer having performed in many genres and styles. She has had the pleasure of singing with many established musicians and organizations including Opera Colorado, The Denver Brass, The Colorado Chamber Ensemble, The Shadow Theater, The Spirituals Project, Opera Company of Brooklyn NY, West Side Opera Society NY and Distinguished Concerts International NY. Over the years she has become an avid recitalist throughout the Denver and NYC areas. In the summer of 2011 she traveled to Italy to sing the role of Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte with Opera Orvieto.
AWARDS
Oaklea has been a finalist in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild and Harlem Opera NY voice competitions and a regional finalist in various competitions including the National Association of Negro Musicians, the West Valley Symphony and the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions. She is a former grant recipient for career advancement and study from the Rocky Mountain Musicians Association and Allied Arts Inc.
